Smallholder farmers are using hermetic Cocoons™ to store maize in northern Zimbabwe (Hurungwe Region). The airtight Cocoons (5 metric tons) allow the farmers to store the grain for many months, fetching a higher price. One farmer, in Ward 12, sold all his grain (5 MT) at $390 per ton - only 4 months after the prevailing price of $280 per ton in July 2014. Collaboration is with USAID/Fintrac.
